Baseball

On March 31st, 2011, the first day of professional baseball, excitement was in the air.  No, the buzz was not generated by Opening Day, as no one cares about baseball, instead, it was because a pizzeria in New York City was selling slices for only a dollar. How crazy is that?  No, not the pizza, even though that is a pretty fantastic deal.  There was even an option where you could get three slices for only 2.75!  Imagine that, saving 25 cents! Why, the things that I could purchase with a quarter; yarn, ribbon, season tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers… Ah, back on topic.  As I was trying to say before I was distracted by the thought of juicy, succulent, inexpensive pizza, is that baseball’s reputation has gone down the toilet.  (Literally.  I use the box scores from the newspaper as toilet paper.  Don’t blame me, I can’t afford any real toilet paper.  I spent all my money on pizza.  You’re cool. Oh, thank God you’re back.  What has it been, three posts without you? I will actually pay you to leave me alone.  If I actually had any money.)  Everyone argues that the game is boring and only played by old white people.  That’s a lie!  Some young white people play too, if you count thirty-five as young.  And yes, its boring, but what do you expect?  Its played by white people!  The most exciting thing that I ever saw at a game would have to be a tie between a jumbo-sized hot dog and when someone let me pet their exotic pet, an African black rat.  It was really cool.  Seriously.  I feel bad about baseball.  The game has potential and is making efforts to grow.  I recently heard that they were actually allowing a minority to join the league.  Sure, it was only as a groundskeeper, but things can only get better.  But if baseball fails, it won’t be that big of a deal because I will always have my inexpensive pizza.  (I thought that you said that the pizzeria closed? It did, but I bought seventy pies and froze them.  I worry about you.  Are you ill?  Mentally?)
