When I’m at awards shows and giving interviews about my blog, which Time Magazine says has touched more people than Pee Wee Herman, one of the most common questions that comes up is what inspires me and keeps me going.  Over time, I’ve gotten used to this question and even though my answer used to be really pathetic, I am now prepared and have a practiced response.  My answers originally were weird, with stuff like: my family, my friends, the world, children, babies, cute animals, the miracle of being alive.  Now, I have an answer that I know and believe is exponentially times better: I am motivated by thinking about how many people will like me because of what I have blogged.  Screw all that sentimental stuff. Babies cry a lot, animals bite, the world has Donald Trump in it, the list goes on.  But when you think about it, what is the meaning of life?  Is it to start a family and spend time outdoors?  To find a comfortable home and do the work you love?  No.  Absolutely not.  Life’s purpose is to be vain, to make people like you for all of the wrong reasons and to never, no matter what, be alone on a Friday night.  But come on now, that one goes without saying.  When I write my blog, it is not to make myself happy, to further my writing skills, or even to kill time in between checking myself in the mirror.  The only reason I blog is so that I can walk into a room and get the same reaction that one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey would get.  That’s all I ask for.  Once that happens, my life will be complete.  However, until then, I’ll keep on writing for all the wrong reasons and touching people all over.

About julian822

This blog is informal to say the least. It's almost like an online journal, filled with stories that I find funny, interesting things/links and anything else that comes to my mind. Enjoy.
